Meet Rosy and Wes!

This AMAZING COUPLE came to me almost a year ago and asked if I would help them in planning their wedding from afar! They lived out of town and wanted to get married at All Hallows Catholic Church in La Jolla and have their reception at the La Valencia Hotel here in San Diego! I was so excited to be planning a wedding for this amazing couple. As we started to talk about colors and the style of the wedding they showed me Rosy's engagement ring!

IT IS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!

It's a canary diamond or "fancy yellow" to be more specific. After talking about how much she loved the ring and how it reflected her style and personality I knew we would use their rings as the inspiration for their wedding!

This gave me the vision! Colors: Yellow and white. Style: Classic, vintage, and renaissance with a touch of modern flair. It fit their styles and personalities perfectly! We got started planning and the rest is history! You will see how it all comes together on May 29, 2010, their wedding day! I have had so much fun planning this uniquely perfect wedding just for Rosy and Wes!

simple, elegant, and classy!

The perfect reflection of Rosy and Wes!

"When Wes proposed I was in the hardest part of my residency, I was working at Kaiser San Jose as the Chief Resident in Foot and Ankle Surgery. For 3 months I was not allowed a day off. Luckily one of the attendings took pitty on me and said I could have New Years Day off. Wes planned a quick getaway for us to South Lake Tahoe, I had my bags packed for a fabulous New Years Eve Celebration, we left Silicon Valley after work on December 31st and drove the 4 hours with traffic to South Lake.

I had a feeling he would propose because exactly 5 weeks prior I had made the Engagement Chicken Recipe and I was ready! We had been dating for 2 years, and he knew that was my cut off! On the drive to South Lake enjoying the scenery and the snow on the side of the road I was feeling very giddy, but Wes shot me down and said not to expect anything because he wouldn't be proposing that weekend, I was so sad, he was so serious and it made me mad! I was upset that he wouldn't propose and now I had to be in the car with him on my only day off!

Part of me didn't believe him, however when we pulled up into the HoJo (Howard Johnson) and he said this is where we are staying I was shocked! I thought well he really isn't proposing especially since we are staying at the HoJo, I was even more upset. But I decided to get dolled up and get ready for the New Year anyway.

We went to dinner at Cafe Fiore, I cute tiny little Italian Eatery with a fabulous menu. The restaurant only has 8 tables. The snow was stacked up outside and there were white stargazer lillies on the table giving off their wonderful aroma, it was magical.

Wes brought some of our favorite wine from Castillo Amorosa in Napa, and to my surprise he had a wine pairing for each course. The meal was exquisite! I noticed he wasn't talking very much which is very unusual for him and he kept rubbing his right pant pocket all night. On top of that he kept telling me to take it easy with the champagne because I needed to remember that night.

After dessert it was very close to midnight, we were finishing our wine when right at midnight he got down on one knee and pulled out the box, he said a slurry of wonderful things all of which I can't remember, it only took a second for the tears of joy to start pouring!

I said *Yes* !

We later transferred to a much nicer Resort and spent New years Day on the slopes. It was perfect! "

We opened the office in October 2009. It took a few months to work on all of the details! I think I will always be continually working on it, always adding and redesigning where I feel needed but for now it's PERFECT! A little bit of vintage lace and a whole lotta LOVE!

We are located on the second floor of an old victorian home! Since it is a victorian home and we love all things vintage we decided to create an eclectic feel and combine it with shabby chic style!

I share the office with two amazing women who also happen to be spectacular wedding vendors!

One wonderful recent wedding trend is related to an enchanted forest: inspired by earthy and heavenly ethereal weddings. Soft, romantic elements and pastel shades are prominent, while whimsical details add to the attractiveness of this trend. Hair and makeup are taking cues from the nature-inspired wedding trend this year, with soft, natural, and very personalized styles. Soft, flowing curls are the biggest wedding day hair look for 2010. Overall, with this trend the bride’s personality and dress are the starting point for this look.

They are the newest Couture Couple! They currently live in the San Fransisco area and will be wed in Orange County! While we have only spoken over the phone, I know that Couture Events is going to be a perfect fit for them. They are eclectic, vintage, and inspired!

A little about this amazing couple:

He: Born & Raised in Stockholm, Sweden. Mr. Practical. Pro Golfer. Entrepreneur. Loves ping pong, making his biceps bigger, and anything outdoors. He makes her laugh!

She: California Girl. Miss Impractical. Paralegal by day and screenwriter by night. Loves record players, Mexican food, and hearing a beautiful voice sing. She makes him laugh!

"THE PROPOSAL: They were vacationing in beautiful Sweden last July & spending time in the archipelago. Jonas was very close to his grandfather who had passed away a few weeks before and told Jenny he wanted to make a video for his memorial.

They hiked up to the top of an island overlooking the water and sat down on the rocks. Jonas told Jenny he wanted to make the tape for his Grandpa and asked her to film it. Jenny willingly took the camera and began filming Jonas as he was speaking in Swedish, little did she know..."

Yes, I cried while watching this... my breaking point was after he has proposed she is hugging him and all you see is her skirt blowing in the wind and all the peaceful water in the background and you know you are sharing in someones sacred moment. It's just so beautiful!

I love this couple and I am so excited and honored to be their coordinator! It's going to be a wedding full of wonderful DIY details, vintage touches, and lots of love!

This week we received a wonderful package full of goodies from Sweet Cheeks Baking, and to show our appreciation I wanted to share this wonderful bakery with all of you!

She is a stickler for organization and cleanliness from her NAVY background and is a fabulous dancer to boot! She has been baking her whole life and continues to crank out amazing cakes one after the other with perfection.

Elaine Palminteri Ardizzone, "The Right Cheek," has owned & operated restaurants and now the bakery since graduating from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration. To aid with flavor pairing and creation, her Sommelier degree from the Court of Master Sommeliers helps with both ideas for flavor combinations and the Sweet Cheeks' unique cake tasting format of "Component Tasting." She operates the business and designs the cakes from inspirations gathered thru art, nature, tattoo, and of course from clients' interests.

Sweet Cheeks Baking Co. has an amazing combination of talent, both in baking and design, and has been featured on FOOD Network's "Road Tasted with the Neelys" for their signature "Chewy Chocolate Cheeks" and Cheebee's Best Carrot Cakes as well as recently on TLC's "Ultimate Cake-Off" through our decorators Charity George & Christy Russell. Sharon & Casey's DIY Wedding: Part I

Dear Couture Readers,

Many of you have seen and read about Sharon and Casey's Wedding on Style Me Pretty, but I just had to share all of the wonderful details (including a few of my own comments) and my favorite photos in my our blog. This is going to be the first blog out of three for this amazing DIY Wedding!

All of these stunning photos are by Sean Walker Photography . He did such an amazing job of capturing every moment!

The major theme of their wedding was community. According to the Bride, “That’s how a wedding should be- a network of the people that you love and that love you coming together and joining family and friends from both sides to celebrate marriage.” The brides mother passed away from breast cancer two years ago, so her mothers best friends and her father’s bible study joined together to help make this wedding a reality.

Part I: Getting Ready

Sharon had her dress made by Chris Gennaro. He is an incredible freelance designer that works out of his home, even with six kids running around! The bride wanted the J. Crew Sascha dress, which at $2000 would have put them over their entire budget. Chris copied the dress for her, but made it extremely flattering to her body. She ordered a custom silk flower and her vintage shoes on Etsy.com. It was perfect.

Sharon ordered next-to-nothing Dallas Cowboys fabric from Ebay and her good friend Sarah made the garter.

Quote from the bride: “I didn’t want my bridesmaids to spend hundreds of dollars on their attire; neither did I care for a bulky taffeta number. The dresses were from Urban Outfitters. Going with the eclectic feel, and the fact that I had nine bridesmaids, we broke up the monotony with three different dresses. We went with tights for warmth and flair (Macy’s) and super comfortable heels from DSW. I made a Forever21 run a week before, got jewelry and hair pins I thought would go well with the dresses, and put out a box the morning-of for them to choose from if them wanted.”

I love this little bridge in the Meiers Backyard, it made the perfect backdrop/prop for the photos (Amazing angles Sean!)!

The photo above is one of my favorite photos of the entire day! Its perfectly done, it looks like Sharon just wondered into the frame by accident. It's a beautiful moment in the whimsical woods!

These girls deserve a lot of THANKS! They really helped in making this day happen with all of the amazing prep work that went into this wedding.

Sharon makes such a beautiful Bride, she was definitely glowing all day!

Sharon & Casey's DIY Wedding: Part II

Many of you have seen and read about Sharon and Casey's Wedding on Style Me Pretty, but I just had to share all of the wonderful details (including a few of my own comments) and my favorite photos in our blog. This is the second blog out of three for this amazing DIY Wedding!

The Woodland Whimsical Wedding- Ceremony and more...

The wedding was held in San Diego in the backyard of a friend’s home. Sharon and Casey wanted to get married outside with a backdrop of trees and leaves. They knew it was a risk to plan an outdoor wedding in January, but the thought of bare trees and twinkle lights overcame the fear. The free venue helped! It ended up being one of warmest and most beautiful days of winter.

I took the couple to a wholesale flower shop to buy their flowers. It is incredible how far eight dozen roses and 80 hydrangeas can go when you’re going for a backyard look. The day before the wedding, because the arrangements would have been a little thin, the bride and her best friend ran around the semi-rural neighborhood where the wedding was, cutting wildflowers and naturally-growing plants from the side of the road as fillers. No one knew the amazing arrangements had no florist help and were comprised of half-weeds!

One of Sharon’s bridesmaids made her bouquet. She stuck all the flowers together, affixed them with burlap and tied her mom’s wedding ring to the base with twine (it was one of the brides favorite little touches in the wedding).

The couple decided to string pennants throughout the trees. The pennants started out as mere aesthetic but soon became very nostalgic. Bride’s Quote: “Most of the fabric was my mom’s, an avid crafter. She was truly woven throughout the entire wedding. My amazing bridesmaids and I spent two days in my living room-turned-sweatshop, cutting pennants, passing off to the next person to iron, to the next person to sew, to the next person to string. I wanted them to be in trees, down the aisle, anywhere there was room!”

They couple took communion during the ceremony, this little table that the elements were placed on was decorated by her bridesmaids in a mosaic pattern with beautiful ceramics and china

I love to take a step back and look at the big picture! This wedding really was incredible, a dream come true- like a wedding you see in the movies! I have seen many weddings but none quite as whimsical and magical as this one!

The brides best friend’s husband, Devon, went out into the mountains and gathered wood to make a four-posted chuppah for them to stand under during the ceremony. He nailed it together and draped muslin over the top to make it focal point to the woodland theme.

Can I just note that I ADORE THIS COUPLE! I love everything about them and throughout the process of getting to know them while planning their wedding, I began to see the love they had for each other and the amazing creativity of Sharon. They are just spectacular!

Sharon & Casey's DIY Wedding: Part III

Lets get this party started...

Part III: Reception

Sharon and Casey asked friends to save their used wine bottles. They then soaked off the labels and made cute little tags for each of them. They used the wine bottles as water pitchers on each table.

They chose a more humble food route by having Souplantation cater just soup. The Brides mom’s dear friends spent New Years Day watching football and making cornbread to go with the soup. It was very affordable and all of the guests loved having comfort food. They cut prices again by ordering bulk biodegradable bowls, napkins, cutlery, and coffee cups online. Knowing that alcohol would be one of the major expenses of their day, they chose to stick to just wine. They bought enough Charles Shaw for everyone from Trader Joe’s – $2 a bottle.

In lou of escort cards- The brides mom’s friend cut little tags from wood strips they bought at Michael’s and painted them with chalkboard paint. They wrote everyone’s names on the tags and then tied them on mason jars with twine, one for each guest that would serve as their drinking glass for the evening.

Quote from the Bride: “After looking into how much tablecloth rentals were, I knew we couldn’t fit it. So I thought, what is the cheapest possible fabric?? Muslin! I bought three bolts of it at $1.99 a yard (P.S. I can’t even count how many 40% off coupons I used at Joanne’s). After laying it on a table and realizing it would only come three inches off the sides, I had a momentary freak-out until thinking I could make table runners and then cut all the muslin lengthwise, right down the middle, and affix it to either edge of the runner. Krystel, our amazing wedding planner, called dozens of coffee shops to find burlap coffee sacks. After finally founding one, I made a donation to their clean water project in Ecuador. My grandma and sister cut and hot glued for three days strait!”

The bride and groom asked select friends and family to make desserts that were signature or special to them. People loved being a part of our wedding this way! They labeled each dessert individually. The bride downloaded a font online for all the little signs and printed them on cardstock left over from their handmade invitations.

The cake was made by a friend of the bride, simple and elegant, perfect for their special day.

The first dance is always such a beautiful moment! As they say in Bride Wars, "Your First Dance introduces your couple style to the world"! Oh but it's so true!

Look at those faces... that's love, joy, relief, happiness, all things wonderful!

We lit the night sky with the beautiful string lights. It's one of my favorite way to light a reception. It makes for such a romantic and elegant atmosphere!

There are three things about this photo that I just had to point out: 1. If you look at the very bottom of the photo on the penannts you will see the couples last name that was sewn onto the pennants (its all about the details). 2. Sharon put on a beautiful white faux fur coat (lent to her by a friend) to watch the toasts (she looked so stylish and she kept warm, LOVE IT). 3. Laughter makes any photo so warm and beautiful.

What some amazing lighting and a little flash can do!

Dance, Dance, Dance...

Casey’s brother built the photo booth out of a sheet of plywood and a big frame someone almost threw away at Casey’s apartment complex. They covered it in burlap and leftover pennants. Sharon painted an old frame and put a piece of cardboard painted with chalkboard paint inside so that guests could add a special message. They had a friend take the photos.

The couple made their grand getaway in a Vintage Rolls Royce- perfect final touch!

Love this couple so much! Sharon & Casey- Thank you for letting me share in the planning and coordination of your wedding day- it was my pleasure and honor to be your coordinator. You are such an amazing couple and you represent everything that love and a wedding should be! I can't wait to watch your love and marriage grow with each passing year! I hope that the friendship I created with you in this time will last a lifetime. Continue to follow and rely on God. He has big plans for your lives and your marriage!

Everything about this couple's day reflected COMMUNITY, FAITH, and LOVE! It was a beautiful event!

I wanted to take the time to introduce you to one of the newest florists in the industry- Blush Boutanical’s. Blush Botanical’s is a fresh innovative florist with a fun loving environment. As best friends, Alex and Brittany have attended a floral design school in Los Angeles and grown together as they found their niche for flowers and confections. Bridal Bazaar, Winter 2010

Last weekend we had an amazing booth at the Bridal Bazaar! This Bridal Bazaar was held at the San Diego Convention Center. I designed our booth to convey our shabby chic style. We brought most of the furniture from our office and we had one of our favorite florists, The Floral Department, design all of the florals which really brought the booth to life! The mock up table was the centerpiece of our booth and we had menus and name cards designed by Nic. Roc. Designs. Everything was pretty perfect and the day went really well! I want to say thanks to all of my friends, family, and brides & grooms who stopped by our booth to supported us! I also have to send a very very special Thank You to Joel (my husband), Mom, Dad, and Karina (my amazing assistant) for helping me move everything in and taking everything out ! We had so much fun Behind The Scenes @ the Couture Shoot! I just had to share a few of our priceless moments with you! We were constantly laughing and some of the mess-ups turned out to be our favorite photos! This is what every photo shoot should be like- happy, fun, exciting, no pressure, good times!

Lets get started:

Emilie (one of Teale's fab interns) was asked to hold the reflector and then Bruiser and we didnt even realize we asked her to do both until we looked over and she looked like this! haha... She can do it all!

This is the best assistant in the whole wide world... helping the photographers get the lighting right!

The amazing hair stylist, Nicole (my best friend), doing some ROCKIN HAIR for us! LOVE IT!

We used the cupcakes as props but at the end of the shoot everyone got to enjoy a cupcake or two!

Bruiser really really wanted to see what was inside of the cup... haha! Oh Bruisey!

A couple of weeks ago I was able to speak to a director at Opera Patisserie in San Diego. There is no need to travel far if you’re craving a taste of Europe. Sarah and Adams Wedding by the Sea, L'Auberge Del Mar

This beautiful couple is Sarah and Adam Kost. They came to me for their October 10th, 2009 wedding by the sea at the L'Auberge Del Mar. I helped her pull together all of the last minute details and make sure that all of the specifics of their day were taken care of. Everything was perfect! Here are the highlights:

The Photographer was Darryn St. John from Darryn St. John Photography~ The photo at the top of this post is my favorite photo of the day. I absolutely love his work! He captured every moment of the day! Thanks again Darryn for these awesome photos!

The ladies got ready at The Bustle in Del Mar. The bustle is a quaint bridal boutique/ bridal salon. They sell wedding dresses as well as do hair and make up. It really is the perfect getting ready location for a wedding in Del Mar.

The girls then came back to the L'Auberge hotel suite to finish getting ready.

Sarah was absolutely stunning in her lace detailed dress!

They had a Catholic and Jewish Ceremony. Sarah was raised Catholic and Adam was raised Jewish so they figured they would just have both a Priest and Rabbi there to marry them.

For the Escort Card table Adam and Sarah really liked the idea of putting the name cards in wheat grass. It turned out beautifully!

Another great detail was this caricature of the Bride and Groom. They used this framing in place of a guest book. I really think this is a great idea because then they can now use this to accent their home with all the best wishes and love they got on their wedding day.

The ceremony location was also the perfect area for the reception atop the L'Auberge overlooking Del Mar.

The lighting by Fuller Lighting set the ambiance for this romantic outdoor reception.

We used clothes pins to clip on the head tables name cards so that everyone at the head table would know their exact seats.

This was my amazing team for the night! My girls are stunning and hard workers, I couldn't ask for more!

Cocktail hour!!!

This amazing cake was made by CAKE , one of the best cake bakery's in San Diego.

You can imagine my surprise when the bride requested a couch on fire cake for the Grooms Cake without any explanation. I later found out that they burn couches after winning football games at West Virginia University (his college). Mystery solved and it turned out to be amazing.

Thanks CAKE for adding so much detail to this cake! This just proves they can do ANYTHING!

The guest favors were milk chocolate surf board and a white chocolate flip flop were wrapped and accented with a brown satin bow for each guest to take home.

Meet Chelsey and Josh

I can not tell you how excited I am to do Chelsey and Josh's Wedding! They are such an amazing couple! The more I get to know them, the more I see how truly wonderful they are. They are no longer just my clients, they have become my friends!

ENGAGEMENT SESSION:

Last weekend they did their engagement session with Stephen Knuth. I met Stephen a couple weeks after they booked with him and loved his work. I was very impressed by his turn around time and the quality of his work. Here are some of the highlights and their story:

Chelsey and Josh met when Chelsey moved to Arizona her junior year of high school. They didn't become friends until senior year when Josh used to ditch his shop class (shh, don't tell Mima) to hang out in lifetime sports (the class Chelsey had). Josh moved to San Diego just after high school graduation but would come visit Arizona pretty often.

In the meantime, Chelsey was attending ASU and the distance for them was too much so she found herself moving back to Orange County, CA. The very first weekend that she was back home in February he surprised her with a trip to Disneyland! Soon they became best friends.

Months later on July 27th, 2007 at 7am they were in a terrible accident with a semi truck hit their car from behind. Josh was left without a scratch but Chelsey was rushed to the hospital. During her recovery, Josh stayed with her day and night by her side and whispered in her ear, “I Love You”. She knew at that moment that they would never be apart.

They got engaged on July 3, 2009 in beautiful South Lake Tahoe aboard the Tahoe Queen. Josh proposed as they were entering Emerald Bay! So timely enough, the wedding date they have chosen is July 3, 2010.

The Couture Events team brings a bridal “survival” kit to every wedding for all those just-in-case situations, (you can find anything from band-aids, to tissues, advil, to a sewing kit), and the kit has definitely proven to have come in handy! This kit inspired me when thinking about bridal make-up and all the touch-ups that have to be done throughout the day. And so a great idea for any bride is to create their own beauty kit for their wedding day. Having all your beauty items in one place can make touch-ups faster and less of a hassle. Some essential items in your kit can include:

They used cigar boxes as vases and placed a wine bottle at each table as the table number and what a beautiful centerpiece they made.

The Bride and Groom engraved their names and wedding date onto wooden fans and gave them out to all their guests to keep them cool on this warm September day.

This was the kids table... the perfect kids table- butcher paper substituted for a table cloth and there were crayons galore.. each child also got a bag full of goodies including: stickers, bubbles, small toys, etc. And instead of wine bottle centerpiece the kids got a Martinelli's bottle!

The tables were set to perfection.. black table cloths, wine colored napkins, cork coasters as favors, and the most beautiful and creative centerpieces.

The Bridal Bouquet- Just stunning. As an extra personal and special touch the bride added this stunning butterfly broach.

The cake was AMAZING- covered with cascading sugar butterflies...

The couple asked for five minutes alone after the ceremony just to be together. This alone time was a beautiful thing and I believe more Brides and Grooms should take these five minutes in the midst of the hustle and bustle!

They were such a joy to work with- their amazing personalities shined!

A great way to stay organized and make writing thank-you notes easier is by keeping a list and writing down names while opening gifts. I found this idea to be really useful because who can remember every gift and who it is from! This also allows you to be specific and personal when writing them, which is nice touch and way to thank your guests.

Creative Guest Books!

I have recently attended a few weddings that have changed up the standard guest book and made it into something fun, unique and more reflective of their personal taste. I think this is such a great idea, and can be taken in so many creative directions!

One of my favorite new takes on the guest book that I came across is having each of your guests write their thoughts and wishes to you on a postcard that is addressed to your new address. Then after the wedding, having a friend mail them all to you, so when you return from your honeymoon, you and your husband have a mailbox full of love and memories to read.

Another idea that I thoughts was fun, was having colored cards and envelopes that each of your guests could write on. This allows your guests to become a bit more personal and sentimental.

Pictures are the best way to refresh the mind of cherished memories. I really like the idea of having cameras around the reception area for guests to take memorable pictures of themselves enjoying the wedding. These cameras can be put on each table or another great idea would be to have a “Snapshot Table” with different cameras on it. The Bride’s Café Blog has some DIY ways of creating this table.

A Grand Entrance

It is almost impossible to admit that solids are more fun than patterns! If you are still thinking about what you may want your wedding colors to be, think about adding patterns to the mix!

Patterns instantly brighten up a room and add a completely different element to the traditional wedding. This idea is stylish and a new way to introduce color and texture into your big day.

The past weddings I’ve gone to bridesmaids were wearing short dresses, a style I had never cared for until I really saw it in person and with the overall affect of the wedding. Short bridesmaid dresses are fun and playful while still chic and sophisticated. They also seem more comfortable and flattering to wear. I love the dress colors of plum, burgundy, and gold for fall and winter weddings. Reanna's Secret Garden Birthday

It was one of my best friends birthdays this past friday and I decided that I wanted to throw her an intimate garden style birthday dinner party. I asked her to give me the names of her 12 closest girlfriends and that I would do the rest...

Here are all of the details:

I made favor boxes for each setting... This is the birthday girls favor box. She loved the dove charm...

I hung pictures of her and everyone coming to the party in the trees that surrounded us...Each ornament was made from Scrap-book paper, photos, and stickers...

I placed mini cupcakes from Heavenly Cupcake at each place setting.

I had everyone write a message to Reanna... Their message could be words of wisdom, words of encouragement, love notes, favorite moments, etc...

Then I had them hang it in the trees and then through out the night one at a time each girl would get up and share their personal message with Reanna in front of everyone and then hang it on her Wreath of LOVE... which you will see it below!

Gerber Daisies are her favorite flower so I tried to incorporate them as much as possible!

I used light pink roses to add the soft tea/garden touch to the table.

This is the Wreath of love... after each girl wrote a message and then read it aloud to Reanna they tied it onto this wreath which she got to take home at the end of the night as her birthday gift! I placed a butterfly at the top and two little birds in at the bottom just to add special touches...

At each setting their was a mini cupcake, favor box with charm sewed on, and a gerber daisy.

Happy 24th Reanna! This was such an amazing night and I know that Reanna knew how much she was loved... it was the perfect girlie dinner party. LOVE YOU!

The New Something Blue

One afternoon downtown I saw a bride getting out of a limousine and noticed her awesome blue high heels! They were a light shade of blue; I thought this was a cute spin on the traditional "something blue" often incorporated into a bride's wedding attire. Blue heels are pretty easy to find, and if you can't find the perfect wedding shoe in blue buy it in white and then you can have them dyed to your favorite shade.

Keith and Vanessa's Wedding Day

Keith and Vanessa came to me to help them pull together all of the final details of their wedding day and to make sure that the day went smoothly! I was thrilled to take it on! They are such an amazing couple, truly in love and so excited to be having their dream wedding.

Here is the story of their day:
It was a sunny day on August 8, 2009 that Keith and Vanessa committed their lives to one another in front of their friends and family. It was a sophisticated bay side wedding.

They chose the Hilton Resort and Spa in Mission Bay as the location for their celebration of love!
Their photographer was Darryn St. John Photography .
He was amazing... he caught every moment and displayed it in such a beautiful way! This is the first time I had worked with him and now I would highly recommend him to anyone.

DIY: Scrapbook Flowers

Yes! These are flowers made out of scrapbook paper. Talk about scrapbooking your memories, with these arrangements you will never have to worry about preserving them in books, you can use them again and again for decoration in any room or at another event.

I am usually not too impressed by paper flowers but these were stunning. I did not find them online or in a magazine I found them at my friend Pam's house... she made a matching bouquet and cake topper for her good friend Mandy to use at her wedding rehearsal. I could not get over how beautiful they were. The photos aren't the best because I took them on my iPhone but I just had to share this amazing set with you....a little creativity can go a long way!

When walking down the aisle, a unique and final touch to your overall look is your bridal veil or hair accessory. A piece that I find to be very elegant and romantic is veils with lace detailing and trim. Whether your veil length is long or short, lace detailing works for any style. Lace also updates the look of traditional veils. Flowers always look classic and chic in hairstyles and allow the bride to add color. They can be tucked into the back of an up-do hairstyle or pinned at the crown of the head. I like how wedding veils and flowers allow the bride to show off her personal side and finish off the style of her wedding ensemble.
